PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Sophomore Taylor Kuhlman scored a team-high 12 points, leading the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 62-49 victory over Susquehanna (Pa.) in the Consolation Game of the Carnegie Mellon Tournament Sunday afternoon at Skibo Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-1, while the Crusaders fall to 1-4.
Freshmen Joe Staley and Jared Horstman each chipped in 11 points for Ohio Northern.
Kuhlman was named to the All-Tournament Team.
ONU led the entire way and a layup by Horstman with four minutes left in the first half to put the Polar Bears ahead 37-21.
SU pulled within 39-30, but a basket by junior Derek Geise put Northern up 41-30 at intermission.
The lead stayed between nine and 13 points the entire second half as the Polar Bears finished third in the tournament.
Harvey Pannell led all scorers with 15 points for Susquehanna.
ONU finished 21 of 59 on field goal attempts for 35.6 percent after making 17 of 33 attempts in the first half.
SU was 15 of 45 from the floor for 33 percent.
ONU out-rebounded Susquehanna 40-32, led by nine boards from junior Scott Schnelle.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday with a 7:30 pm contest at Trine (Ind.)
