Big Second Half Lifts Rangers

QUINCY, Mass. (November 30, 2010) - The Rangers used 55 second half points to pull away from Eastern Nazarene this evening, 94-80. Junior Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) paced the Rangers with 28 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

After seeing a near even first half complete with seven lead changes and one tie, it was Drew (2-2) that would light up the scoreboard in the second frame. The Rangers held a three point advantage going into the locker room as they withstood a charging Eastern Nazarene (3-3) squad who chipped away at a seven point Ranger lead with under two minutes to play in the half.

The back and forth play would continue in the secon until the Lions went on a 8-0 run to tie the game at the 9:49 mark. The Rangers would respond courtesy of the long ball. Freshman Luke Glass (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) hit two three pointers in three possessions to put Drew up six. It was then Capers turn to display his range. He would go on to hit three three-pointers in a row to get the Ranger lead up to 13 with 6:08 to play.

In all the Rangers used a 25-6 run over a 4:40 span to gain its largest lead of the night, 18 points. All six of their second half three pointers came on the impressive run

For the game, the Rangers were 11 of 26 from beyond the arc, good for a little over 42 percent.  Four Drew players were in double figures on the night.  Sophomore Terrell Brown (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) was a rebound shy of a double-double, as he added 15 points.

Off the bench Glass was a perfect 4-for-4 from the three point line as he eclipsed his season-high with 14 points. Senior Kyle Joyce (Hanover, Mass./Xavieran Brothers) was the fourth Ranger in double digits as he tallied 13 points on the night.

The Rangers will open their Landmark Conference schedule against the defending Landmark Conference Champions, Merchant Marine.
