(Buffalo, NY) – The Medaille College men's basketball team earned their second consecutive win this afternoon as they ran past non-conference foe Cazenovia College (81-66). The win would be a total team effort as eleven Mavs found their way on to the scoresheet with four of them reaching double figures in scoring.
Senior Joe Mogavero (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) filled up the stat sheet as he knocked down 6 of his 8 shots from the floor for (14) points, pulled down eight boards (five on the offensive glass), dished out (5) assists, blocked four shots and even came up with a steal.
Fellow senior Ricky Reed (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) poured in a team high (16) points as he too connected on (75%) of his attempts from the field. Kevin Borden (Fairport, NY/Fairport) chipped in with (10) points while junior David Shuey (Newfane, NY/Newfane) had his most efficient shooting day as a Maverick connecting on all of his shots in the game, (5 for 5) from the field and (2-2) from the line, for (12) points.
The Mavs dominated the paint, outscoring the Wildcats (48-28) in the lane. They also turned (16) Cazenovia turnovers in to (22) points on the other end of the floor while outscoring the Wildcats (14-0) in transition.
It was the second consecutive win for Medaille after opening up the season with a pair of tough losses, as they even their record at (2-2).
The Mavs will host Penn State-Behrend in the AMCC opener for both teams on Wednesday (12/1) as part of a doubleheader with the women. The Lady Mavs will hit the floor first at 6:00pm with the men slated for an 8:00pm tip-off.
