Jordan Zimmer scored 10 points in the second overtime and unranked Illinois Wesleyan overcame 40 points from Hope's Nate Snuggerud as the Titans defeated the No. 1 Flying Dutchmen 108-101 in double overtime.
The win helped the CCIW place three teams in the Sweet 16, as Wheaton (Ill.) defeated Edgewood 73-62 and North Central (Ill.) won 72-68 at Washington U. Illinois Wesleyan's win ended Hope's 23-game winning streak and marked the second year in a row Hope lost to a CCIW team in overtime to get bounced from the tournament.
Illinois Wesleyan trailed by 13 in the first half and 11 in the second half.
The host sites for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight rounds are traditionally announced midday Sunday.
Of the five teams that pulled off big road upsets in the first round, none survived to the round of 16. Edgewood fell to Wheaton at UW-River Falls (click here for a postgame interview with Wheaton's Tim McCrary), Carroll lost to No. 22 Wittenberg 87-70, Scranton rolled past Becker 69-41 at William Paterson, MIT defeated Farmingdale State at Hartwick and No. 7 Whitworth defeated Trinity (Texas) 64-53 at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
There will be a new champion in Division III men's basketball this season, as St. Thomas' season came to an end with a 91-62 loss at UW-Whitewater. Warhawks big man Chris Davis was held to 11 points but Cody Odegaard went off for 29, including 7-for-8 three-point shooting. Whitewater will be in a sectional that also includes Virginia Wesleyan, a 70-57 winner against St. Mary's (Md.).

Amherst and Middlebury each advanced in the NESCAC, while Eastern Connecticut was the only one of three remaining Little East teams to advance, winning at Oswego State in overtime. Oswego, the No. 14 team in the D3hoops.com Top 25, trailed by 10 in the second half and by five in the first overtime, but a three-pointer by No. 21 Eastern Connecticut with 2.5 seconds left in double overtime handed the Lakers a 70-69 loss, making Oswego the sixth host school to lose in the first weekend of the tournament.
Fifth-ranked Cabrini survived, making four of five free throws in the final 15 seconds to defeat Hobart 91-88 in overtime. The Statesmen lost Greg Stern and Sean Peer, who were ejected after they went on the floor during a first-half scuffle.
Wooster reached the sectionals for the eighth time in 14 seasons, using a 20-3 run that extended through halftime in beating Capital 92-79.
No. 3 MIT scored the game's first eight points and led by as many as 25, en route to a 83-63 win over Farmingdale State at Hartwick. Senior Noel Hollingsworth scored a game-high 37 points, tying a career high, and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Franklin and Marshall held DaQuan Brooks to 22 points on 6-for-22 shooting in defeating Western Connecticut 82-72 and Staten Island knocked off Rhode Island College 77-67 to bounce two Little East teams from the field. It's the first time a CUNYAC men's team has won two NCAA Tournament games since Hunter in 1998.
