Michael Coppolino has stepped down as head coach of the George Fox University women's basketball program.

Named the fifth head coach in program history since George Fox joined the NAIA in 1981, Coppolino compiled a 51-36 record in four seasons. Hired on April 26, 2019, he directed the Bruins to an 11-5 Northwest Conference mark in 2019-20 and a 5-2 NWC record in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, before guiding George Fox to 8-8 league marks in 2021-22 and 2022-23. Overall, his conference record was 32-23.

Coppolino had seemingly an impossible task, following Michael Meek, who left for a D-I head coaching job. Meek followed Scott Rueck, who was hired at Oregon State.

"We want to thank Michael for his service and leadership of the program, and we wish him and his family well in future endeavors," George Fox athletic director Adam Puckett said.

A search for Coppolino's replacement will begin immediately.
