Audrey Baston scored 23 points and Colorado College dealt No. 1 Trinity (Texas) its first loss of the season in the second meeting between the SCAC's two Tiger squads. Elsewhere, Washington U. swept Emory and No. 3 Christopher Newport staked its claim to move up to No. 1.

Colorado College used a dominant third quarter to grab the lead over visiting No. 1 Trinity (Texas), and the Tigers from Colorado College held off the Tigers from San Antonio, 70-64. 

After Josie Napoli sank two free throws to put Trinity up 37-31 early in the third quarter, Colorado College scored the next 11 points with Audrey Baston capping the run with a three-pointer. Colorado College held Trinity without a field goal until Elaine King's layup with one second left in the third period. Colorado College scored the first eight points of the final quarter to take a 55-45 lead and then held the visiting Tigers at arms' length the rest of the way.

Colorado College held Trinity to 28 percent shooting (7 for 25) in the second half while shooting 46 percent itself (11 for 24) and sinking 12 of 14 free throw attempts. Bayston led the victorious Tigers with 23 points and seven rebounds. Colorado College now shares first place in the SCAC with Trinity, but Trinity will host the playoffs under the conference's pre-determined site format.

Trinity's loss opens the way for a new No. 1 team when the women's Top 25 is released tomorrow evening. No. 3 Christopher Newport, which beat Coloardo College back in December, made its case to move into that spot by beating UC Santa Cruz, 73-62. The Banana Slugs led 42-37 at the half but the lead slipped away when Kaylee Murphy went to the bench with four fouls midway through the third period. Christopher Newport took a 52-46 lead into the fourth quarter and then All-Americans Sondra Fan and Anaya Simmons closed out the game with a flury of three-pointers and three-point plays. 

Fan finished with 27 points on 9-for-16 shooting while Simmons had 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting, along with 10 rebounds. Christopher Newport and No. 2  Transylvania (21-0) were separated by just three ballot positions in this week's Top 25 poll.

In Sunday afternoon UAA action, Washington U. swept Emory with the women winning 78-61, and the Bears men edging the Eagles, 61-60. The WashU women got 26 points, 12 rebounds and five assists from Maya Arnott and remain one game in front of No. 7 New York University in the UAA headed into their game next Sunday in Brooklyn.

The 21st-ranked WashU men took a 60-50 lead midway through the fourth quarter and then did not score again. No. 20 Emory pulled within two on Benjamin Pearce's layup with 68 seconds remaining, and then cut the lead to one on its next possession when Jair Knight split a pair of free throws. WashU did not score on its last possession, and the Eagles had two shots to win the game in the final five seconds but missed both. The Bears (16-4, 7-2 UAA) remain one game ahead of Emory, Case Western and Carnegie Mellon in the UAA standings.
