The Bowdoin athletic department has announced that Sacha Santimano will not return as head coach of the women's basketball program.
Santimano, who was hired in June after having been the head women's basketball coach at Eastern Nazarene, led the Polar Bears to a 16-9 record and NESCAC first round appearance during the 2021-22 season. She will depart Bowdoin due to family health reasons.
"I am grateful for the positive contributions Sacha made to our community during her time at Bowdoin," said athletic director Tim Ryan. "I look forward to following her success in the future."
Bowdoin will begin an immediate search for her replacement.
The Polar Bears' 16-9 mark broke a string of seven consecutive 20-win seasons for Bowdoin.
