A new season brought the same results for St. Thomas and Nebraska Wesleyan as the Tommies defeated the Prairie Wolves in a rematch of last seaon's NCAA Tournament matchup. Elsewhere Randolph-Macon continued its mastery of arch rival Hampden-Sydney and Elmhurst tripped up No. 2 UW-Oshkosh.

No. 15 St. Thomas shot 13 for 26 in the second half, with 11 made three-pointers, and the Tommies ran away from No. 8 Nebraska Wesleyan, 82-63. Tommy Anderson went 6-for-7 for 19 points in the second half. The Tommies (3-1) also made all 10 of its free throws in the second half and 15 of 16 overall. The Prairie Wolves (4-1) got 50 points from four starters, but just 13 from everyone else. 

Elmhurst sent No. 2 UW-Oshkosh to its second straight loss, 97-92, as Jake Rhode scored 33 points in 28 minutes for the Bluejays (3-0). Elmhurst made 8 of 9 free throws in the final 38 seconds to seal the victory. Will Mahoney scored 25 points for Oshkosh, which split its first four games, all of them against CCIW opponents.

No. 1 Swarthmore improved to 4-0 with an 84-54 win at home over Stockton. The Garnet outrebounded the Ospreys (2-2) 53-33 with Colin Shaw grabbing 12 rebounds. 

No. 14 Wabash was fresh enough after Friday's scorefest against Greenville to beat tournament host Carroll, 86-78. Jack Davidson put up 23 points on 7-for-16 shooting and Harrison Hallstrom chipped in 21 more for the Little Giants (3-1). Charlie Soule scored 20 points for the Pioneers (5-1).

Buzz Anthony scored 27 points, Corey Bays added 16 more and No. 24 Randolph-Macon beat Hampden-Sydney, 82-64. The Yellow Jackets (6-0) have beaten the Tigers in five straight games dating back to February 2017. 

Colin McNamara scored 13 of his 21 points in the second half to lead No. 16 WPI past Mass-Boston, 68-62. Trailing by seven at the break, the Engineers (5-1) opened the second half on a 12-1 run and finally put the Beacons (4-1) away on back-to-back baskets by McNamara and Reid Walker in the closing minute.

Outside the Top 25, the NEWMAC's other Engineers gave their coach a milestone victory, as Larry Anderson picked up career win No. 400 in MIT's 84-70 win over Lasell.

Williams rolled over its Little Three rival Wesleyan 77-52 by feasting at the foul line. The Ephs (3-1) shot 20-for-32 from there while the Cardinals (3-1) attempted just six free throws, making five. The teams will meet again when Wesleyan hosts on Feb. 7 in the game that will count in the NESCAC standings.

Conference play began in the MIAC for every team but St. Thomas. Booker Coplin notched a double-double (21 points, 12 rebounds) to lead Augsburg past Concordia-Moorhead, 75-55. St. Mary's (Minn.) had all five starters score double figures, led by Eli Cave with 21 points, and the Cardinals topped St. Olaf, 84-80.

The NACC also started conference play where Benedictine held off Illinois Tech, 55-51. Eric Grygo scored 18 points, including the go-ahead basket with 15 seconds left and the victory-sealing free throws with three seconds left. 

Simpson nipped Greenville 161-160 in overtime as Conor Riordan and Adam Reiter combined to score 77 points on 34-for-38 shooting against the Panthers' System defense. Sontiago Grady scored 32 points for Greenville which had eight players make three-pointers. The 321 combined points sets a new record for points scored in a game, breaking the record set just two years ago between Greenville and Fontbonne.

Penn State-Abington improved to 3-1 with a 92-77 win over Arcadia. Pernell Ghee picked up a double-double (25 points, 10 rebounds) for the Nittany Lions.
