Susquehanna hired Marywood head women's basketball coach Gabby Holko to replace Jim Reed who has accepted an assistant coaching job on Trevor Woodruff's staff at Division I Bucknell.

Susquehanna interim Director of Athletics Crystal Gibson announced the hire via press release.

"Coach Holko, from the beginning of the process, emerged as a top candidate through her ability to not only coach and recruit young women student-athletes, but also develop them into leaders on and off the court," said Gibson in the release. "She has proved her ability to recruit top-level student-athletes, athletically and academically – developing them into highly competitive players and leaders."

Holko arrived at Marywood last June, replacing Tara Macciocco who took the head coaching job at Wilkes. Holko led the Pacers to a 13-14 finish with a 7-5 record in the newly formed Atlantic East Conference. One of Marywood's victories was a 65-63 win over Susquehanna.

Previously Holko was the assistant head coach at National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) member Lackawanna College for one season, an assistant coach at Allegheny for one season and a graduate assistant at Misericordia for two seasons. All of those programs are in Pennsylvania, as is Holko's alma mater Westminster (Pa.) from which she graduated in 2014.

She replaces Jim Reed who stepped down as the River Hawks' head coach in May. Reed won 175 games in 14 seasons at Susquehanna, second most in program history. About a month after leaving Susquehanna, Reed accepted an assistant coaching job on former Scranton head coach Trevor Woodruff's staff at Bucknell. Reed played football at Bucknell, graduated from the school in 1985 and was an assistant coach for the Bison for three seasons.

Susquehanna finished 6-18, 3-11 in the Landmark Conference last season.
