Rosemont hires Amherst assistant

Rosemont College hired Amherst assistant Grace Elliott to do double duty as its head women's basketball coach and Sports Information Coordinator.

Rosemont Director of Athletics Joe Pavlow announced the hire via release on Tuesday.

"Grace stood out among a diverse pool of candidates, demonstrating an understanding of the Rosemont College mission and a desire to lead a successful program while also contributing to the campus community," said Pavlow in teh release. "She has acquired a tremendous amount of knowledge in her previous experiences and has a real handle on what it will take to help grow the program here at Rosemont."

Elliott has two years of experience as an assistant coach, first at her alma mater Ramapo during the 2016-17 season and then at Amherst last season. In between Elliott played for the Newcastle Knights in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) association while earning her master's degree.

Elliott played two seasons at Division II Adelphi and then transferred to Ramapo for her final two years. She was a team captain and all-conference selection for the Roadrunners.

"I feel incredibly honored to be the next women's basketball coach at Rosemont College," said Elliott in the release. "I am excited to build on the success that this program has been able to see in the past couple of years."

Rosemont rolled through the new-look CSAC last season, going undefeated (16-0) and 24-4 overall before losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Tufts.

Elliott replaces Rayne Reber who resigned to take the head coaching job at Alvernia.
