Virginia Wesleyan head coach Stephany Dunmyer is returning to the conference where she thrived as a player to lead the Oberlin Yeowomen's program.

Oberlin Director of Athletics and Physical Education Natalie Winkelfoos announced the hiring via release on Wednesday.

"Coach Dunmyer will lead our students to wins on and off the court," Winkelfoos said in the release. "She is an outstanding addition to our department and greater community. We are excited to welcome Stephany and her family to Oberlin."

Dunmyer leaves Virginia Wesleyan as the Marlins' all-time leader in coaching victories with a career record of 250-181 in 16 seasons. Her best season was 2014-15 when Virginia Wesleyan won the ODAC title, reached the NCAA Tournament and won its first round game over host New York U. Dunmyer won the ODAC coach of the year award three times in 2006, 2008 and 2012.

Dunmyer was a standout player at NCAC rival Kenyon where she led the Ladies to the NCAA Tournament twice and won the Conference Player of the Year as a senior in 2000. She is Kenyon's career leader in assists and second in three-pointers.

"Oberlin College is impressive in every way, and I am looking forward to working alongside great coaches in the department and with an amazing group of student-athletes as we focus on building and maintaining a championship culture both on and off the court," said Dunmyer in the release.

She replaces Kerry Jenkins who stepped down after winning a program-best 117 games in 11 seasons.

Oberlin finished 15-11, 10-6 in the NCAC last season while Virginia Wesleyan went 14-12, 11-7 in the ODAC.
