Emory & Henry College announced two promotions in its athletic department when Anne Crutchfield was named Athletic Director on a permanent basis and Jaclyn Dickens was named Crutchfield's replacement as head women's basketball coach
Crutchfield, who was the Wasps' head basketball coach for five seasons, served as the College's interim Athletic Director for two years.
"I would like to thank our president, Jake Schrum and provost, Dr. John Wells for this opportunity," said Crutchfield in the school's release. "The dedication of our coaching staff and support of our alumni is beyond compare."
Crutchfield was hired as the Wasps head coach in 2014. She led E&H to a 98-40 record in five seasons, including a program-best 83 wins over the last four seasons. Emory & Henry reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history in 2018 and was ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in program history last season.
Crutchfield turns over the program to her assistant and fellow alumna Jaclyn Dickens, who worked on Crutchfield's staff the past four seasons. Dickens spent eight seasons as the head coach at NAIA Virginia Intermont College, which closed in 2014.
"Jaclyn has been instrumental to the success of our team over the last four years," added Crutchfield in the release. "She is a proven recruiter and an excellent student of the game. Given Jaclyn's experience, her love for Emory & Henry College and her commitment to our Women's Basketball family, she is the perfect choice to lead this group of amazing young ladies."
The Wasps finished 22-4, 15-3 in the ODAC last season.
