SUNY Geneseo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Mike Mooney announced the hiring on Wednesday, July 24.

"I have seen Alyssa grow tremendously as a person and as a coach during her time here," said Mooney in the school's release. "She has a passion and a love for Geneseo and the women's basketball program and will maintain the outstanding culture that has developed on and off the court."

Polosky was an assistant to Scott Hemer who left the Knights' program after 11 seasons to take the head coaching job at Division I Canisius. SUNY Geneseo has gone 53-5 overall and 36-0 in the SUNYAC the past two seasons. Polosky will have two key pieces of last year's team back in All-Region second team forward McKenna Brooks and East Region Rookie of the Year Natalie Alfieri.

"Having been a part of this program as both a player and an assistant coach, I fully understand the rich history of the program and will continue to instill the values that make Geneseo special," said Polosky in the release.

Polosky played two seasons at SUNY Geneseo and was a first team all-conference selection when the Knights won the conference title in 2011. Polosky also played two seasons at SUNY Broome.
