Hamilton stayed local to fill its women's basketball head coaching vacancy as the College selected Colgate assistant coach Mahogany Green to lead its program.

"We are thrilled to welcome coach Green to our community," said Director of Athletics Jon Hind in Hamilton's release. "Her passion for working with young people through sport coupled with her knowledge of college basketball positioned her perfectly to take over the leadership of our women's basketball program."

Green is relatively new to Upstate New York, but has extensive coaching experience at the Division I level.

She has spent three seasons at Eastern Michigan, one at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne, one at Eastern Kentucky, four at Central Michigan, three at Kansas, one at Loyola University Chicago and two at Colgate, which is about 20 miles from Hamilton's campus.

"I want to thank God for this opportunity and thank (Director of Athletics) Jon Hind and (Associate Director of Athletics) Miriam Merrill for believing in me," Green said in the release. "I look forward to taking Hamilton women's basketball to a new level. We will compete every day on and off the court and have fun doing it!"

Green played at Division I Cleveland State where she scored 1,366 points in 113 games and was named all-conference twice. She then played professional basketball in Turkey before beginning her coaching career.

Greene replaces Michelle Collins who decided to step away from college coaching earlier this summer. Collins went 67-74 over six seasons with the Continentals.

Hamilton finished 14-10, 2-8 in the NESCAC in 2017-18.
