Randolph-Macon moved into a tie for first in the ODAC with some help from Lynchburg while Albright and North Central (Ill.) gained ground on their conferences' leaders.

Randolph-Macon defeated ODAC preseason favorite Guilford 75-63 behind another good game for freshman guard Buzz Anthony. He scored 14 points to lead five Yellow Jackets in scoring and dished out eight assists. That win coupled with a heartbreaking loss for No. 19 Emory and Henry created a two-way tie for first in the ODAC.

Emory and Henry fouled Lynchburg guard Austin Wrighten with one second left and he made both free throws to lift the Hornets over the Wasps, 81-79. Lynchburg (11-10, 5-7) had four players reach double figures led by Connor Schroeder with 20 points. All five starters scored double figures for the Wasps (18-3, 10-2) who have dropped two straight. 

No. 11 Lycoming lost for the second Saturday in a row, this time falling at home to Arcadia 101-91. The Knights' starting back court of Josh Scott, Brandon Thompson and Da'kquan Davis rolled up 58 points with 11 three-pointers. Arcadia (12-9, 7-5) shot 53 percent (17-for-32) from three. Lycoming (19-3, 10-3) had its lead in the MAC Commonwealth cut in half since Albright topped Lebanon Valley 86-76.

CCIW leader Illinois Wesleyan was idle, so North Central (Ill.) just had to beat last place North Park to gain ground in the standings. It looked like the Cardinals would miss that opportunity until Alex Sorenson hit the game-winning three-pointer with 27 seconds left to give North Central a 61-60 lead on the Vikings. North Park had three shots to win the game on their final possession but came up empty. No. 9 Augustana had the same chance to pick up ground, but the Vikings followed up Wednesday's win over Illinios Wesleyan with a 77-69 loss at Carroll. Joel Heesch flirted with a triple-double (16 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds) for the Pioneers (8-12, 4-7).

No. 25 UW-Stevens Point overcame No. 24 UW-River Falls' size and experience advantage and surpassed the Falcons 66-64. The Pointers' win ends the Falcons' chances of defending its WIAC title as the River Falls slips to 5-5 in conference and four games back of Stevens Point (15-6, 9-1).

The last two undefeated men's teams in Division III stayed that way with ease. No. 1 Whitman blasted Pacific 112-69 behind Darne Duckett's 23 points in 28 minutes. No. 3 Wittenberg took care of Oberlin 77-56.

In early men's action Robert Tobroxen scored 24 points to lead St. Olaf past No. 4 St. John's 75-62. The Oles shot 59 percent (31-for-53) and never trailed in their successful bid to end the Johnnies' 16-game winning streak. St. Olaf sits 2.5 games back of St. John's (18-2, 14-1) in the MIAC. 

No. 22 Marietta has the longest active streak of consecutive Top 25 appearances, but that is in jeopardy because the Pioneers lost at home to Heidelberg, 71-65. The Student Princes erased a 13-point halftime deficit and outscored Marietta 34-12 in the paint. Marietta (16-5, 10-4) slipped one game back of John Carroll, which beat Wilmington 109-81, in the OAC race.

Outside the Top 25, Hope led archrival Calvin wire-to-wire in a 76-59 victory at Van Noord Arena. Dante Hawkins scored 23 points for the Flying Dutchmen, who now lead the Knights 103-95 all-time.

The CSAC played the CUNYAC in a series of crossover games. CUNYAC leader Lehman topped Gwynedd Mercy 85-68 as Mylo Mitchell and Luis Hernandez combined for 40 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Lightning (18-4). Cabrini held off Staten Island 76-74, despite not making a field goal for the final three-plus minutes of the game. Cabrini big man Tyheim Monroe, who leads Division III with 20 double-doubles, picked up another by scoring 29 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Overall the CSAC teams went 6-5 against the CUNYAC.

Plattsburgh State continued its hot streak by crushing Cortland 90-67. Jonathan Patron had 30 points and 11 rebounds for the Cardinals (17-4, 14-1) who have won 14 straight.

Ramapo's roller coaster season took another turn upward as the Roadrunners beat TCNJ 64-60. Ramapo has a two-game lead on the Lions and New Jersey City, which lost at home to Rowan 67-66.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took over first place in the SCIAC by dealing Occidental its first conference loss, 70-60. All-American Michael Scarlett scored 20 points for the Stags who have won 10 of 11 after starting the season 2-6. The teams will meet again at Occidental on Feb. 12.

Darius Reiter's three-pointer with 64 seconds left was the difference as Drew edged Catholic 76-75. After Reiter's shot gave the Rangers (15-5, 8-1) a 76-73 lead, Jay Howard answered with a jumper to pull Catholic within one point. Catholic (12-8, 6-3) had a turnover and a missed three on its final two possessions. Howard scored 36 points, including the 2000th of his career, for Catholic.

The four teams tied for first in the MWC played each other and Lake Forest and Monmouth emerged with victories. The Foresters beat Ripon 69-64 behind Eric Porter's 19 points and Monmouth made a 17-point halftime lead stand up in a 65-56 win over St. Norbert. Danyon Hempy hit the game-winning three for Wooster with under four seconds left in the Scots' 73-70 victory over Denison.
