Covenant head women's basketball coach Sarah Harris has announced that she is stepping down from her position after five seasons at the helm of the program.
"I'm thankful for the tireless work that Sarah has put into the program over the last five years, and grateful for the ways in which she has positioned the program for future success," said director of athletics Tim Sceggel.
Covenant was 47-79 in her time at Covenant.
Harris completed her fifth year as head coach in 2017-18 and the Scots put together their most successful season. Covenant went 14-12 overall, the most wins for the program since joining NCAA Division III, and advanced to the USA South Tournament quarterfinals for the first time. After enduring tough seasons in her first two years, Harris' teams won 26 games over the last two seasons and made back-to-back trips to the USA South Tournament.
Since 2013-14, Covenant has produced four All-USA South players and Joanna Smith was the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2015-16. In the classroom, Harris' teams have totaled 33 USA South All-Academic honorees, including a program-best 10 last season, with this year's academic honors yet to be released. Harris' 2013-14 squad was recognized as the USA South Team Sportsmanship Award winner for the sport.
A national search for a new head women's basketball coach is underway.
