Athletic director Steve Thompson, who stepped down from the job after a successful season as interim coach, announced the hiring on Friday.
"We are excited for Coach Arbogast to transition to head women's basketball coach," said Thompson in the college's release. "Amos is focused on academics, a tireless recruiter and committed to the development of our student-athletes. I am very excited for him to take the reins of our championship level program."
Arbogast was an assistant to Eureka men's coach Chip Wilde when the Red Devils scored 90.5 points per game. His responsibilities included day-to-day operations, recruiting, scouting opponents and developing individual players' skills through workouts. Before coming to Eureka, Arbogast was an assistant coach at Tri-Valley High School in Downs, Ill.
Arobast earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Iowa in 2006.
"I would like to thank Steve Thompson, president Wright and everyone involved in the selection process for the opportunity to lead this group of young women and this program going forward," Arbogast said in the college's release. "I am grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to building upon the championship success established by the women's basketball program at Eureka College."
Eureka went 20-8, 14-2 in the SLIAC, won the conference tournament and made its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season under Steve Thompson.
