"We are delighted to have Coach Grothe join our department as our next head women's basketball coach, continuing to build upon the past success of the program," said Dr. Munt in the University's release. "She brings an excellent knowledge of the game combined with strong recruiting skills that will help usher Southwestern back to the top of the conference."

Southwestern finished 10-16, 7-7 in the SCAC last season under Lori Morris who went 18-34 in two seasons with the Pirates. Morris stepped down from the position in May to accept an assistant coaching position at Division I  University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

Grothe spent the last two seasons as the head coach at the University of Dallas where she went 19-32 with the Crusaders, including an 0-4 mark against her new team.

"I am excited to become a Pirate," said Grothe in Southwestern's release. "I have long viewed Southwestern as the model of how an NCAA Division III athletic department should run and am honored to be chosen to lead the women's basketball program.  I want to thank Dr. Munt for her faith in me and I look forward to getting to work on bringing an SCAC championship back to Georgetown."

Before moving to Dallas, Grothe spent two seasons as an assistant under Matt Dean at Rhodes College. Grothe also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at NAIA Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. She earned her Master's Degree from Baker and her Bachelor's degree from Rockhurst in Kansas City in 2005.
