Nigro hired at Medgar Evers

Brian Nigro, former head men’s basketball coach at Mount St. Vincent, has been selected as the new head men’s basketball coach at Medgar Evers. He replaces Chris Pursoo who coached the Cougars for eight seasons.
Nigro was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. where Medgar Evers is located. Nigro won 96 games in eight-plus seasons at Mount St. Vincent. He was let go midway through the season when the College also released women's head coach and athletic director Laura Pruitt.

“I would like to thank the Director of Athletics Renee Bostic and Dean Skeete for the opportunity to be a part of the Medgar Evers College Family!” said Nigro in a release. 
 
Nigro feels confident that with his strong recruiting abilities that he can turn this program and culture around at Medgar. “We are a part of a great conference in CUNY and I am excited to begin this new journey,” said Nigro.

Nigro replaces Chris Pursoo went 81-131 in eight seasons at Medgar Evers.

The Cougars went 4-20, 3-13 in the CUNYAC last season.
