Goucher College named Andrea Preston as its next head women's basketball coach, replacing Patrick Daniel who stepped down after one season at the college.

College Director of Athletics Geoff Miller announced the move in a release.

"After a comprehensive search that attracted close to 200 applications, we are genuinely excited to have Andrea Preston join our team of Gopher coaches," said Miller in the release. "Andrea has proven to be a purposeful, bright, and highly analytical coach who has a strong history of relationship-building and recruitment."

Preston spent the last three seasons as an assistant on Dixie Jeffers' staff at Capital University. Preston was previously the head coach at Hiram College where she went 50-129 in seven seasons with the Terriers. She was also the head coach at Clarkson University for two seasons from 2005 through 2007 and went 14-36 with the Golden Knights.

"I would like to thank the committee and Mr. Miller for the opportunity to lead the women's basketball program at Goucher College," said Preston.   "I am honored to accept this position and look forward to building a program that the college can be proud of and one capable of achieving sustained success.  Mr. Miller's vision and the progressive nature of Goucher College made this position very attractive and a great fit for me."

Preston earned her bachelor's degree in health and physical education with a minor in athletic training from Luther College and earned her master's degree from UW-La Crosse.

Preston replaces Patrick Daniel who went 4-20, 0-14 in the Landmark Conference in his only season with the Gophers.
