Valley Forge stayed local and named DJ Damazo as its new head coach for men's basketball. Damazo was an assistant and head junior varsity coach at nearby Eastern University last season.
In a news release Damazo said "I am honored and blessed to serve as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Valley Forge. The University of Valley Forge is an incredible place with a genuine Christian atmosphere, strong academics, and a thriving athletic department. First, I want to thank God for His provision and for giving me this opportunity. Second, I want to thank my wife, Kristland, for her patience, love, and sacrifices during this process. Next, I want to thank David Kim and Gretchen LeVan for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Finally, I want to thank all of my family, coaches, and mentors that have helped me along the way."
Damazo spent the last two seasons on Eric McNelley's staff at Eastern University while earning his Master's Degree. He earned his bachelor's degree from Geneva where he was a two-year starter for the Golden Tornados.
Damazo replaces John Mack who stepped down from his position as head coach and University Athletic Director earlier this month. Mack won 286 games in 17 seasons at UVF and oversaw the expansion of the University's athletic program and its move to NCAA Division III status.
Valley Forge went 19-10 last season.
