Two teams ranked in the Top 10 went down to defeat as Puget Sound ended George Fox's streak in the NWC and Howard Payne made sure not to miss a second chance at upsetting Texas-Tyler.

Puget Sound rallied in the final minute to beat No. 8 George Fox 86-85 and end the Bruins' 33-game conference winning streak.
Kaitlin Jamieson's jump shot gave George Fox an 82-81 lead with under a minute to play at Puget Sound. On the Loggers' next possession, Alexis Noren drove to the rim for two and was fouled. She completed the three-point play and, after a Bruins' missed layup, Claire Fitzgerald added two free throws to put Puget Sound up by four with 16 seconds left.
Kylin Collman hit a three to draw George Fox within one and the Bruins had a chance to win the game after the Loggers missed two free throws on their next possession. But George Fox's final shot was off the mark and the Loggers held on for their first win over George Fox since January 2011. Box score
Samone Jackson scored 27 points and Noren posted a double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) for Puget Sound (6-0, 2-0 NWC). Jamieson finished with 18 points and five rebounds for the Bruins (6-1, 1-1 NWC).
Howard Payne just missed upsetting No. 3 Texas-Tyler when the Yellow Jackets travelled to Tyler last month. This afternoon Howard Payne took care of the Patriots 75-63, sending them to their second straight defeat.
Howard Payne controlled the game and held a 24-point advantage entering the fourth quarter. Valerie Matlock posted 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals for the Yellow Jackets (5-4, 2-0 ASC). D'Onna Matthews scored 15 points for Texas-Tyler (5-2, 0-2 ASC), which played without All-American Michelle Obach.
Earlier in the day No. 19 Wheaton (Ill.) opened CCIW play with an impressive 71-53 victory at Elmhurst. Katie McDaniels had another big game for the Thunder, tallying 27 points on 11-for-14 shooting. Illinois Wesleyan outlasted North Central (Ill.) 118-113. Molly McGraw scored 37 points for the Titans (4-3, 1-0 CCIW) and Mayson Whipple countered with 29 for the Cardinals (3-2, 0-1 CCIW).

Speaking of impressive scoring performances, Sara Tarbert posted a program-record 49 points for Stevenson and the Mustangs ran past Widener, 87-78. Tarbert broke her own career record of 41 points from a victory over Virginia Wesleyan last season.
Bill Broderick earned his 100th career win as No. 13 Christopher Newport overwhelmed Frostburg State, 81-51. Sam Porter notched 20 points, nine steals and seven rebounds for the Captains (6-0, 2-0 CAC).
Madison Maples scored 28 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, and Maryville (Tenn.) overpowered Emory, 85-68. The Scots improve to 4-2 while the Eagles slip to 6-1.
Bluffton stayed unbeaten with a 67-44 victory at Transylvania. Catholic did the same by opening Landmark Conference play with 71-60 victory over Drew.
Guilford improved to a program-best 7-0 with an 84-66 victory over Bridgewater (Va.) at home. Anais Weatherly just missed a triple-double, tallying 22 points, 11 rebounds and nine steals.
Illinois College ended St. Norbert's 30-game winning streak against MWC opponents, as the Lady Blues upended the Green Knights, 76-69. Carly Cameron scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Illinois College (4-2, 3-0 MWC).
