Senior SUNY Geneseo women's basketball player Kelsey Annese was among three people found dead in a home in Geneseo, N.Y., on Sunday. Two were Geneseo students and the third was an alumnus.

Annese, 21, was a three-year member of the Knights women's basketball team and had played in seven games so far this season. She and Matthew Hutchinson, 24, a Geneseo hockey player, were stabbed to death by Colin Kingston, who was Annese's former boyfriend. Kingston then committed suicide, police say.

"She was an extremely hard-working, dedicated and a sweet girl that could put a smile on anyone's face," teammate Kara Houppert told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. "She always did that for me."

“We have experienced a terrible tragedy in Geneseo today involving members of our community,” Geneseo president Denise Battles said in a statement. “The loss of Kelsey, Matthew, and Colin has profoundly affected our campus community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved.”

Geneseo's men's and women's basketball games vs. Cortland, scheduled for Jan. 19, have been postponed.
