D3hoops.com Classic 2014 pairings

Kyra Dayon and FDU-Florham cut down all the nets last season. There's no net-cutting in Vegas, but the Devils will be there to see how they stack up.

Husson won 22 games last year but couldn't get a sniff at the Top 25. Games against Scranton and Hampden-Sydney could help their cause in 2014-15.

We've got the women's defending national champion, two men's teams who won 20-plus games and four who won 17 or more in the 2014 D3hoops.com Classic. Fourteen teams will be joining our crew and the folks from Sport Tours International, the tournament organizers, from Dec. 28-30 at the South Point hotel and casino in Vegas and we'll bring you all the action on live video.

Perennial women's playoff contender UW-Stevens Point comes to Vegas for its first D3hoops.com Classic, hoping to bounce back from a 17-10 season last year. Colorado College returns, while Scranton makes its first trip after getting snowed out of its travel plans a few years ago.

The Merchant Marine men's basketball team, which has yet to announce a coaching hire after Danny Nee was benched midseason and interim coach David Muchnick took a head coaching job at Maine Maritime, pulled out of the 2014 Classic.
