Alma women's basketball coach Keisha Brown passed away on April 10, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 42.

Brown had coached the Scots for five years. She had previously been a successful high school boys' basketball coach in Michigan.

"We knew in the interview process that Keisha had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and that she was a survivor," Mike Hanson wrote in a post on Alma's sports blog. "I watched as the disease kept coming back and watched some more as Keisha fought back at it every time. In her own words, she was a 'lifer,' not just a survivor."
