Bethany played its way into the regional rankings over the previous few weeks, but likely played its way out on Tuesday night when it was knocked out in the Presidents' Athletic Conference quarterfinals by No. 9 seed Geneva.

Geneva, playing on the road for the second night in a row, improved to just 7-20 on the season and advances to the semifinals to play Thomas More.

Bethany is 21-5, but may have trouble making it into the NCAA Tournament field of 62. The Bison had beaten Geneva by 29 and 23 points during the PAC regular-season schedule.

The Christopher Newport men started hot in their first season in the Capital Athletic Conference, tailed off in the conference schedule but knocked off fourth-seeded Salisbury 78-74 behind 26 points from Tra Benefield.

Eleventh-seeded Washington and Lee was the lowest seed in any conference tournament to advance as the Generals (7-19) knocked off sixth-seeded Randolph (15-11) in the ODAC's first round. Andrew Franz had 19 points to lead W&L, which moves on to face third-seeded Guilford on Friday at the Salem Civic Center.

In women's action, William Paterson clinched a berth in the NJAC title game vs. Montclair State as Floriana Borova poured in 48 points in an 81-70 road win at No. 2-seeded TCNJ.

The IIAC saw its two lower seeds advance to the conference semifinals, as fifth-seeded Wartburg won at No. 4 Simpson, while sixth-seeded Buena Vista defeated third seed Dubuque.
