EWING, N.J. – Senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) exploded for 48 points as third-seeded William Paterson (18-9, 13-5 NJAC) scored an 81-70 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Basketball Tournament semifinal victory at second-seeded The College of New Jersey (18-8, 14-4 NJAC) Feb. 25 to advance to the league's championship game.

The Pioneers move on to play at top-seeded Montclair State in the final Friday, Feb. 28, at 7:00 p.m. WP and the Red Hawks will be meeting in the championship game for the second straight year, and the Pioneers will be looking to avenge a 75-54 loss at MSU from a year ago while winning their third NJAC title in a four-year span and their fifth championship overall (1993, 2011, 2012).

Borova nearly eclipsed her career high of 38 during the second half alone, scoring 34 of her 48 after the intermission. She finished 6-for-12 (.500) from three-point range and drained all 10 free throws while tacking on eight rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) posted 16 tallies and game bests of 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Jeter came out red-hot for the Pioneers, hitting her first six shots and scoring 15 of the first 21 points of the game for William Paterson. The Pioneers opened up a 24-16 lead when Borova drained a long three-pointer with 10:24 remaining in the first half.

The Lions' offense was spread out during the opening period as nine different players scored the first 23 points for TCNJ. Trailing by as many as 10 points, a short baseline jumper by senior Kelly Roddy off a Liz West feed cut the deficit to five (33-28, 6:00), but WP senior Kristine Jackiewicz (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) knocked down a long ball from six feet behind the arc to make it a 38-30 game at the 3:26 mark.

A modest 6-0 run allowed the Lions to pull within two (38-36, 1:31) before Jeter's free throw closed out the scoring eight seconds before halftime, making it a 39-36 game as she netted all 16 of her points during the first 20 minutes.

The Pioneers maintained command in the second half. Borova dropped in her sixth three-point field goal of the night at the 13:42 mark to stretch the lead to 54-43 before TCNJ answered right back with consecutive baskets by Kylie O'Donnell, Colleen Duffy and West (54-49, 11:49).

The two-time first-team all-conference guard from WP, however, was relentless on the offensive end. Borova scored 23 straight points for her team in less than 10 minutes, finishing the stretch with the Pioneers ahead by a 74-66 count with 3:03 on the clock.

Borova's 48 points were the most ever scored by a woman at TCNJ's Packer Hall, bettering former Lion Hillary Klimowicz's 35 from Jan. 24, 2009. Sophomore guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) added nine tallies and six rebounds, and Jackiewicz finished with seven boards.

O'Donnell, Tiffany DeTulio, Coughlin and Goldblach led a balanced Lion offense with 10 points apiece.
