Millikin got 24 points from Justin Thompson and 13 from Tunde Ogunleye as the Big Blue won 70-59 win at SIU-Edwardsville on Thursday night. SIU-E is in its first year as a provisional Division I member after moving from Division II.
The Big Blue, which improved to 6-0, used a strong second half to rally from a 12-point deficit with 17 minutes left to down the Cougars.
Trailing 39-27 after a Mark Jelovich jumper early in the second period, Millikin went on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 41-41 on a jumper by Devin Demby. Thompson hit a three-pointer with 10:22 left to give Millikin its first lead of the game and the Big Blue pulled away.
"We played as a team in the first half. In the second half, we didn't play as a team," said SIU-E coach Lennox Forrester.
Millikin shot 54 percent from three point range and outrebounded SIU-E 40-30.
