For a number of reasons, it's been since 2019 since we have had women's basketball teams at the D3hoops.com Classic. The event wasn't held in 2020, and last year some teams had to drop out because of COVID tests and travel restrictions, so we didn't have any women's basketball games in 2021 either.
This year? How about seven women's basketball teams making the trip? Seven of our 12 teams are women's teams, including Amherst, which played in last year's Final Four. This event was originally slated to have 15 teams, but the Kenyon and St. Vincent women's team and the Rhodes men had to pull out because of flight issues.
For the 12th year we welcome teams from coast to coast to the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for three-plus days of wall-to-wall basketball. And this is an event which is played in an arena, not in a conference room or banquet hall.
