Women's

Riley DeRubbo

DeRubbo led the way during a 3-0 week for the Presidents, averaging 20 points and seven rebounds per game as W&J beat Penn State Behrend, Ohio Northern, and Mount Union during their opening week of play. Highlighting the week was a 24-point performance in a road win at Penn State Behrend. DeRubbo scored a team-high 19 points and drained the decisive three-pointer in the final minute of a narrow 66-65 win over Mount Union. She converted 49% from the field, 63% from three-point range, and 94% from the line last week. 

 

Brianna Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald scored a career-high 35 points, just two points shy of a program record, in a 72-65 win over Ithaca where she shot a productive 11-for-18 from the field with a team-high eight rebounds, an assist, a block, and three steals. She registered a double-double in a 70-55 win over Vassar, including a career-high 15 rebounds. Through three wins to start the year, Fitzgerald has averaged 22 points on 67% shooting and 10 rebounds. 

 

Samaree Perkins

Perkins has started the season sharply, averaging 25 points and 17 rebounds per game as Capital is 2-0 to start the year. In the win over MSJ, she ended with 19 points and 19 rebounds to go with an assist and  a steal. In the win over Franklin, she ended with 30 points and 14 rebounds to go with an assist, two blocks, and a steal. 

 

Mary Schleusner

Schleusner led the Generals to five-straight wins to start the season. She recorded double-doubles in four of their five games, averaging 20 points, 16 rebounds, and five assists per game. Schleusner has registered 11 blocks and 11 steals while shooting 52% from the field. She recorded 35 points and 26 rebounds in a one-point win over Allegheny before dropping 24 and 17 the next day against Chatham opening weekend.

 

Marlo Simms

Simms powered the Bantams to a pair of victories, averaging 17 points and 14 rebounds, while shooting 65% from the field in back-to-back career performances. In a thrilling comeback 79-73 victory over TCNJ, Simms posted 15 points with a game-high 13 rebounds and an assist. She followed with 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as Trinity defeated Brockport, 76-63.

 

Men's

Sam Grieger

Grieger scored in double figures in all three games, averaging 27 points. He scored a career-high 36 points, including the game-winner, in an overtime victory against No. 17 Hampden-Sydney. Grieger then finished with 27 points and four assists in the championship game win over No. 14 Virginia Wesleyan.  He averaged five rebounds, three assists, and a steal, shooting 52% from the floor over three games.

 

Eamonn Kenah

Kenah was outstanding in the opening weekend of basketball for UChicago, averaging 22 points per game to help lead the Maroons to a pair of monster wins over UC Santa Cruz and Trinity (Texas). He drilled 11 threes on 65% shooting, including five first half threes that spurred a 30-2 run against Trinity. Kenah averaged two boards, two assists, two steals, and a block per game, with just one turnover on the weekend.

 

Corvin Oprea

Oprea helped Rochester to victories over Buffalo State and Utica. He scored an average of 25 points, grabbed six rebounds per game, and dished out three assists per contest. Oprea shot 16-26 overall (62%), was 10-16 from 3-point range (63%) and made 7-9 free throws.  He had a career-high 37 in the title game against Utica and opened the season with 20 in a 74-69 win over SUNY Cortland.

 

Jacob Cook

Cook averaged 27 points and eight rebounds, and three assists over two opening victories, shooting 61% from the field. He dropped 22 points against Minnesota Morris and a career-high 32 points against UW-River Falls. Cook shot 60% from the three-point line and 83% from the free-throw line. 

 

Noah Cleveland

Cleveland led Illinois Wesleyan to a 2-0 opening weekend. He averaged 16 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks per game. Cleveland began the season with a 16-point, 13-rebound double double in IWU's win over Illinois College, where he also tallied three blocks and a steal. In the title game versus UW-Oshkosh, he went for 16 points and 14 rebounds with four blocks, a steal, and an assist. For the weekend, he shot 13-for-24 from the field (54%).
