    We won't have our Final Four teams in Division III women's basketball for a couple weeks, but we have our first four teams in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. New Jersey City, Brooklyn and UW-Stout joined top-ranked New York University in the Big Dance by winning their conference tournaments on Friday night.

    ASTON, Pa. — The New Jersey City University women's basketball team, seeded #2 in the 2023 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament, picked up a hard-fought, overall team victory in the Quarterfinal Round on Wednesday night, March 1. The Gothic Knights, who did not trail after the first minute of the game, defeated #7-seed Neumann University, 66-59, as four different NJCU players scored in double figures.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Trailing by as many as seven points with just 4:15 to go in regulation, the two-time reigning New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) champion New Jersey City University women's basketball team — also the 2022-23 NJAC Regular-Season champions — bounced back with a vengeance in the final stretch of the fourth to come back and tie it up against #4-seeded The College of New Jersey at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Wednesday night, Feb. 22. NJCU closed out the quarter with a 7-0 run to tie it up and force overtime at 61-61. Then, down by six at 67-61 after two quick Lions' threes to start the extra period, Jersey City stayed strong and outlasted TCNJ for the 78-74 NJAC Semifinal victory on Coach Charlie Brown Court to advance to the program's third consecutive NJAC Championship game, which will take place back at the JMAC on Saturday night, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. against #3 seed Rowan University.

    For the first time in the New Jersey City University women's basketball program's 53-year history, the Gothic Knights have been crown New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Regular-Season Champions. After a slow start to the season, NJCU finished with a 14-4 mark in NJAC play to earn the top overall seed — and home court advantage throughout — the 2023 NJAC Women's Basketball Tournament following the 63-52 victory at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Wednesday night, Feb. 15, over Rutgers-Camden. Jersey City also celebrated Senior Night during halftime, bidding farewell to its three graduating seniors, Jasmine Reese (Jersey City, N.J./Hudson Catholic), Jada Camacho (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) and Janari Newsome (Newark, N.J./Technology).

    GALLOWAY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's basketball team, the two-time defending New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) champions, have officially clinched a bye into the semifinal round of the 2023 NJAC Tournament following the Gothic Knights' 63-52 road victory over Stockton University this afternoon, Saturday, Feb. 11. Following NJCU's regular-season finale at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 15, Jersey City will host a NJAC Semifinal at the JMAC on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's basketball team picked up a dominant victory on home court at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Wednesday night, Feb. 8, as the Gothic Knights trounced Rowan University, 93-76, behind the first-career triple-double in junior guard Damaris Rodriguez' (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) career. She led all players in scoring (30), assists (14) and rebounds (10) for the sixth triple-double in program history and first since 2018.

    MAHWAH, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's basketball team earned a hard-fought victory on the road on Wednesday night, Feb. 1, over New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival Ramapo College. NJCU and the Roadrunners went back and forth all night long, however the Gothic Knights eventually pulled out the two-point win, 68-66, thanks in part to some strong play from juniors forward Jimmirah Johnson (Prospect Park, N.J./International) and guard Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus).

The Gothic Knights played tight with William Paterson University all night long, but a big-time third quarter and a late surge in the fourth helped NJCU top the Pioneers, 74-62.

NJCU picked up a 19-point, 70-51 victory on the road this afternoon, Jan. 11, over Rutgers-Camden. A late fourth-quarter comeback attempt by the Profs was not enough as junior guard Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) poured in a career- and game-best 34 points in the victory.

The Gothic Knights held off the Cougars for three quarters before using a strong fourth to defeat the home team, 66-55.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — After falling to Division I Delaware State University, 88-48, to round out its two-game stretch against Division I opponents to start off the season, the #RV (D3hoops.com) New Jersey City University women's basketball team opened up New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play against rival Montclair State University on Tuesday night, Nov. 22, at the John J. Moore Athletic and Fitness Center. The Gothic Knights won the game 66-48 in its home-opener behind some stellar play from several different players.

  • Rodriguez Dominates as Women’s Basketball Opens Season at Division I Monmouth

    WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The New Jersey City University women's basketball team, which entered the 2022-23 season receiving votes in the D3Hoops.com Top 25 Poll for the first time in program history, opened up its 25-game regular-season campaign with a Thursday night, Nov. 10, road clash against Division I opposition Monmouth University. The Gothic Knights gave it their all throughout the game, leading by as many as four points midway through the third quarter, but unfortunately fell to the Hawks, 79-70. NJCU standout junior preseason All-America point guard Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) poured in a career-best 33 points and showed out as arguably the best player on the floor tonight.

Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) — and now the Gothic Knights have earned an automatic bid to the 2021-22 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Gothic Knights entered the playoff battle having won two of the last three against the Red Hawks, with both wins coming at MSU's Panzer Athletic Center (including last season's championship). Tonight's match-up was a knock em down drag em out battle, that ultimately fell the Gothic Knights' way as sophomore Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) drilled a buzzer-beater to cap off a huge fourth-quarter comeback and give NJCU the 68-67 victory.

The Gothic Knights, thanks in part to game-high in points (26) and assists (10) from Rodriguez, defeated Stockton University at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) by a score of 67-57.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Prior to tip-off on Monday night, Jan. 31, the New Jersey City University women's basketball team, as well as players from last year's squad, were honored for the program's first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship in history. Players and coaches from last year's team received championship rings to commemorate their outstanding achievement. Once the game began, however, the Gothic Knights came out a bit flat against The College of New Jersey at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC). Thankfully, whatever head coach Pat Devaney, Sr., said to his team in the locker room at halftime fired the squad up and, thanks to a massive third-quarter comeback, NJCU clawed all the way back and eventually took the lead en route to the 63-55 victory over the Lions.

The Gothic Knights topped CCNY 120-26 – the second-most points in a game in program history – while sophomore Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) set the program's single-game assists record (18), which puts her in the top 10 all-time in the Division III record book for single-game assists – she's tied for fourth overall.
