How about a tournament with five ranked teams, and then five additional teams with zero losses or one loss? That's what we had in Las Vegas for the 2023 D3hoops.com Classic.

For the 13th year we welcomed teams from coast to coast to the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for three-plus days of wall-to-wall basketball.

Four teams left Las Vegas with two wins, including No. 8 Case Western Reserve which made a strong case to move up in the national rankings with wins over No. 4 Oswego State and NEWMAC title contender Clark. Trinity (Texas) guard Jacob Harvey hit a last-minute three to beat Clark in the Tigers' first game and then hit a Classic-record nine more in Trinity's win over No. 21 Pomona-Pitzer. Husson heads back to Bangor, Maine with two wins over SCIAC foes La Verne and Whittier and an 11-1 mark overall.

Occidental is the lone women’s team to go 2-0 at this year’s Classic after the Tigers fended off Westminster (Mo.) and then ran past Rhodes. Oxy returns to conference play with a 9-1 record after going 11-14 last season.
