In a battle of undefeated teams, No. 8 Case Western Reserve overpowered No. 4 Oswego State, 87-74. With the Spartans leading by three, Anthony Mazzeo bookended an 8-0 run with a three-pointer and a driving layup that took CWRU's lead to 44-33. Case Western pushed the lead to 19 points midway through the second half and cruised to victory from there.

Case Western (10-0) outscored the Lakers 33-9 from three and had a 27-7 bench scoring advantage. Mazzeo led the Spartans with 26 points on 9-for-18 shooting with four 3-pointers and Umar Rashid added 13 points and eight boards. Jeremiah Sparks tallied 23 points for Oswego State (7-1).

The lead-in to that Top 10 battle was much closer, as No. 22 Trinity (Texas) edged Clark, 84-83, on a late three-pointer from Jacob Harvey.

After trailing for much of the second half, Clark rallied to take an 83-81 lead with a 7-1 run that started with a Reid Neumann three-pointer and ended with Bruce Saintilus' turnaround jumper. On the ensuing possession, Trinity missed its first shot but Christian Green grabbed the offensive rebound to keep the Tigers' possession alive. Trinity called timeout and then found Harvey for a deep three over the hands of a Clark defender. The Cougars had one more chance to take the lead, but the Tigers whittled down the clock by committing fouls without putting Clark in the bonus and then denied the Cougars a good look at the buzzer.

Harvey finished with 21 points, including 10 free throws, for Trinity (12-0). Clark (8-2) hit 14 three-pointers in 30 attempts, and got 26 points from Isaiah Taylor.

Husson knocked off its rust and then knocked off La Verne, 96-75, in the first men’s game of the D3hoops.com Classic.

After the teams battled to a 45-all tie at the break, Husson broke through in the second half, using its size and strength to get to the rim often. The Eagles shot 61 percent in the second half and outrebounded the Leopards, 48-31. Jeremy Moronta scored 24 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out eight assists while his backcourt mates Riles Neff and Andrew McCauley added 14 and 20 points respectively for Husson (10-1). Dahmaj Warren led La Verne (3-5) with 15 points.

Rhodes' young backcourt made clutch plays down the stretch to beat Whittier, 84-79, and continue the Lynx's strong play. After Rhodes took a 14-point lead early in the second half,  Whittier battled back to tie the game at 70 with 4:34 remaining. Rhodes first year guard Trevor Lombard responded by hitting a contested three from the right wing and then drilled a long two-point shot on the Lynx next possession, putting Rhodes (6-4) up five. Sophomore guard Phil Dotson scored seven of his team-high 24 points in the final three minutes and Rhodes survived a potential game-tying three with 12 seconds left before Zavien Williams added two more free throws to seal the Lynx's six win in seven games.

Aamari Smith notched 24 points for Whittier (2-8), which went 32 for 40 from the foul line.

In the day's first game, the Rhodes women got themselves in the win column, defeating La Verne 71-51. Rhodes entered the day at just 4-4, but with losses to Mary Hardin-Baylor (11-1), Emory (8-1) and Wesleyan (7-3). The Lynx came out strong after those early-season tests and pulled away from the Leopards in the second half, shooting 52% from the floor for the game in the win.

Rhodes jumped out to a 22-13 lead before La Verne (5-2) fought its way back into it, cutting the lead to three on numerous occasions. But Rhodes went on an 11-0 run later in the second quarter and ended up pulling away. Alyssa Bongiovanni scored 14 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds, while Catherine Althoff added 13 points and Avery March 12. Chiara Brown started the day 8-for-9 from the floor for La Verne, but cooled off in the second half and finished with 22 points before fouling out. The loss is La Verne's first against a Division III team this season.

Ohio Northern extended its winning streak to six with a 72-65 victory over No. 10 Trinity (Texas). The Polar Bears seized the lead with a 10-0 run capped by Noelle Ruane’s three pointer midway through the first period and never lrelinquished that advantage. The Tigers hung tough and trailed by five, 47-42, until ONU finished the third quarter with a seven-point flurry. The Polar Bears pushed their advantage to 63-49 with 5:40 to play when Brynn Serbin found Brooke Allen for a fast break basket, and ONU kept Trinity at arm’s length the rest of the way.

Ohio Northern (6-3) overcame 27 turnovers by shooting 51 percent (26 for 51) and outrebounding the Tigers by 16. Jamie Reude scored 16 points for Trinity (8-4), which has dropped three in a row.
