There's been a men's basketball team at Emmanuel for 17 years, and most of them have been pretty uninspiring. That includes last year's 3-22 campaign. But under a new coach, Emmanuel is on track for its best season ever, and a turnaround that is plus-12 wins and counting. Brian Lester has more.
Following a national search, Emmanuel has appointed Danny Lawson as head men's basketball coach. Most recently an assistant coach at Endicott, Lawson becomes just the third head coach in the program's 17-year history.
Jamahl Jackson wasn't the first head men's basketball coach at Emmanuel, but he has been the head coach for 14 of the program's 17 seasons, leading the Saints to a 148-222 record, including nine consecutive losing campaigns.

This was Emmanuel's second-straight conference victory. With the win, the Saints improve to 11-12 overall and pick up their tenth GNAC win of the season, at 10-6 in the conference. This was the sixth-straight loss for the Cadets, who now drop to 5-17 on the season and 4-12 in league play.

Emmanuel Head Coach Jamahl Jackson earned his 100th career win on Saturday afternoon, when he led the Saints Men's Basketball Team to a 64-48 win over cross-town rival Emerson College. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest was the second half of a GNAC double-header played in Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center. This was the third-straight GNAC win for the host Saints, who improved to 7-9 on the season and 6-3 in conference play. The loss dropped Emerson to 1-15 overall and 1-8 in the league.

With the victory, the Saints improve to 1-0 on the year while the loss drops the Lyons to 1-1.
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Basketball Team suffered a tough 91-81 loss to Johnson & Wales University on Saturday afternoon in the Jean Yawkey Center. This was the last regular season contest for both squads. The Saints entered the contest needing a win to possibly secure a bid to the GNAC post-season tournament, but came up short and finished the season at 6-19 overall and 5-13 in the league. With the win, JWU improved to 16-8 on the season and 13-4 in GNAC play. Emmanuel’s senior co-captains Tyrone Buchanan (Detroit, Mich.) and Tony Carter-Hill (Baltimore, Md.) were honored prior to the start of the game.
