On Tuesday night, the Bearcats traveled to the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn to play the Cougars of Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC matchup.
The squad came out with a 79-62 victory which helped them improve to a 12-10 overall and 9-3 in the CUNYAC (second place).
This was a special night for Mia Castillo, who became the CUNYAC's all-time leading scorer surpassing Lauren Cargill's 2,272 career points from 1999 to 2003 at CCNY.
Castillo has an impressive 2,273 total points with more basketball left to play this season.
The visiting Bearcats trailed early 21-16 after the first quarter, but they came storming back as they outscored the Cougars 25-8 in the second quarter to lead 41-29 at halftime. The Cougars could not recover in the second half as they were limited to 33 percent shooting in the home loss.
Castillo tallied 34 points and 14 assists in her historic night. Elissa Leung had 16 points.
Lillianna Morales tied her career-high in rebounds with 13.
Angela Bacarella came up clutch with a near-double-double with eight points and a career-high 10 steals.
The squad played tenacious defense as they came away with 25 points off turnovers.
Alexis Davis scored 18 points for the Medgar Evers Cougars.
The Bearcats' next match-up is an away game against the Cardinals of York College on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
