WAYNE, N.J. – Behind a career offensive performance from junior Patty Walsh, the William Paterson women's basketball team (15-7, 11-4 NJAC) captured a 69-61 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win against New Jersey City (9-13, 8-7 NJAC) Feb. 8 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- William Paterson had an efficient start to the game and built a double-digit lead (29-18) through the first 10 minutes of action after shooting 10-of-14 (.714) from the field and 3-for-3 (1.000) from deep.
- New Jersey City pulled to within eight (55-47) after outscoring the Pioneers, 14-9, over the final 5:50 of the third quarter.
- The Pioneers maintained their advantage in the fourth quarter and secured the 69-61 home win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Walsh recorded a career-high 26 points on 11-of-15 (.733) shooting to pair with eight boards.
- Junior Renee Wells went 4-for-8 (.500) from the field for 11 points while adding a game-high nine rebounds.
- Graduate student Brianna Smith had 11 points.
- Freshman Leilani Pinder logged seven points and six rebounds.
