BALTIMORE, MD – The #20 (WBCA)/#23 (D3hoops.com) Johns Hopkins women's basketball team ran its winning streak to four games and won for the 10th time in 11 outings as the Blue Jays scored a 50-48 come-from-behind win against McDaniel inside Goldfarb Gymnasium Wednesday night.  The win improves the Blue Jays' record to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the Centennial, while the Green Terror slip to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial.

The Blue Jays, who won their 15th straight in the series, trailed 15-6 after the first quarter and were down 22-14 at the half before outscoring the Terror 22-10 in the third quarter to fuel a rally from a deficit that was as large as 11 in the first half.

Johns Hopkins needed less than a minute in the third quarter to trim the eight-point halftime deficit to two as back-to-back Jadyn Murray layups and a Michaela O'Neil layup of her own in the first 57 seconds of the second half pulled the Jays within two.

McDaniel answered with a 10-2 spurt of its own with a pair fo Caroline Barbaloto three-pointers capping the spree, which lasted just under three minutes.

Johns Hopkins responded with a 14-0 quarter-ending run that gave the Blue Jays a 36-32 lead entering the fourth period.  Three straight O'Neil baskets in a 90-second span ignited the spurt before Greta Miller added consecutive layups of her own to pull the Blue Jays even.  The second of Miller's two baskets tied the score at 32-32 with 1:28 on the third-quarter clock; to that point, the Green Terror had led since the 7:51 mark of the first quarter.

The Blue Jays grabbed a lead they would never relinquish on a Macie Feldman fastbreak layup and Miller capped the 14-point spree with a late layup to give the Jays the four-point lead entering the final 10 minutes.

The lead hovered between two and four points for the first three minutes of the fourth quarter before a Feldman jumper push the margin to six (42-36).  McDaniel would trim the deficit to one on a Raegan Lenz bucket in the paint, only to have Hopkins answer with five straight, including a traditional three-point play from O'Neil, to grab a 47-41 lead as the clock dripped towards the four-minute mark.

A Layla Henderson driving layup for Johns Hopkins gave the Blue Jays a 49-45 lead with 1:26 remaining, but Teya McConnaha drained her third triple of the game from the top of the key to make it a one-point game with 1:03 on the clock.  The Blue Jays would miss a pair of jumpers in the final minute, but Miller came up with both offensive rebounds and hit one-of-two-free throws with five seconds remaining before a Kendall Dunham steal in the final two seconds sealed the victory.

O'Neil (16) and Miller (12) combined for 28 of Hopkins' 50 points, while Feldman (7) and Murray (6) added 13.  O'Neil scored eight points and Murray added all six of her points in the game in the decisive third quarter.  Miller and Feldman both grabbed 10 rebounds and the Blue Jays turned 22 offensive boards into a 14-4 advantage in second-chance points.

McConnaha scored  a game-high 17 points and added five rebounds in the loss.  She was 7-of-10 from the field and hit 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.  Barbalato and Lil Overcash both added nine points.

The Blue Jays extended their streak of holding teams to under 55 points to 10 games.  After the Green Terror hit 5-of-10 shots from the floor in the first quarter, the Blue Jay defense buckled down and held the Terror to 6-of-29 (.207) shooting in the second and third quarters combined.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, January 25 when the Blue Jays travel to Muhlenberg for another Centennial Conference game.

Notes of Interest:  The 10th of Miller's 10 rebounds on the night was the 700th of her career.  She now needs just 14 points and eight steals to become the first player in program history to amass 800 points, 700 rebound, 200 assists and 150 steals.  Miller also started the 99th game of her career tonight.
