Women’s Basketball Falls to Brevard in USA South Opener, 87-61

Brevard, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team opened its USA South conference schedule with a tough 87-61 loss to Brevard on Tuesday evening. Despite the defeat, the Bishops had strong individual performances, with three players scoring in double figures.

Senior forward Corinthian Williams delivered an outstanding performance inside, leading the team with seventeen points and four rebounds, shooting 50% from the floor and a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line. Senior guard Nadia Simmons continued her historic season, contributing fifteen points, three assists, and three rebounds while shooting 7-15 from the field. Forward Anaya Hall rounded out the double-figure scorers, adding eleven points and five rebounds, and helping Wesleyan out-rebound Brevard by eight.

The Bishops' bench also made a significant impact, totaling twenty points. Iyania Evans was key in the paint, scoring eight of NCWU's 32 points in the paint.

Defensively, the Bishops limited Brevard's shooting from beyond the arc, holding the Tornados to just 33% from three-point range and forcing fifteen turnovers.
