WALTHAM, Mass. – After scoring just 35 points in the first three quarters, the Brandeis University women's basketball team scored 34 in the fourth, including a 17-0 run that helped the Judges defeat visiting Rivier University, 69-56, in Red Auerbach Arena tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges owned a couple of slim leads in the first half – 17-13 after one and 26-25 at the break.
- Rivier outscored the Judges, 16-9, in the third period to take a 41-35 lead into the final period.
- After the Raiders' Rachel Guinn hit the team's first 3-pointer early in the fourth to give the visitors their largest lead at 44-37, Rivier senior Lyric Grumblatt hit a pair of free throws with 8:29 left in the game.
- At that point, the Judges took off, holding the visitors off the board for more than five minutes while they scored 17 points in a row.
- Senior Lulu Ohm (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) scored nine points in the streak, while first-years Saviah Shabazz (Plano, Texas/Plano West Windsor) and Jessica Maina (Bradford, Mass./Brooks School) each hit key 3-pointers.
- Shabazz gave Brandeis the lead for good with 6:08 remaining and Maina connected on the Judges next possession to make it a six-point game.
- Brandeis shot lights out in the fourth quarter. After shooting just 10-of-47 from the field entering the stanza (21.2%), they hit 11-of-14 in the fourth (78.6%), including all seven of their 2-point baskets and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc (57.1%). The Judges held Rivier to 26.7% in the fourth (4-15) after they had connected on 46.7% (7-15) in taking the lead in the third.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ohm, the Judges' leading scorer in her previous four games, exploded for 19 points in the fourth quarter to finish with a game-high 25 points. It was her third 20-point game this season.
- Ohm hit 8-of-18 overall, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 from the line. She also had six rebounds and two steals.
- Maina also had a big fourth quarter, scoring eight of her 10 points in the last stanza. Maina also led the team with three assists for the game.
- For the second-straight contest, and in her first start of the season, senior Brooke Reed (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) set a personal-best with 13 rebounds. After grabbing seven offensive boards on Saturday against Tufts, she had six against the Raiders.
- Rivier had four of their five starters score in double figures, paced by Grumblatt with 18 points, while Alexa Dufries, Sydney Perry and Hannah Muchmore each scored 11. Muchemore had eight of her 11 points in the third as Rivier took their lead.
- The Raiders got no scoring from their bench, as Brandeis's reserves had 16 points, led by six each from Shabazz and senior Mollie Obar (No. Yarmouth, Maine/Greely).
- Perry recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds, six on each end of the court.
- Grumblatt led the visitors with three assists, while Muchemore had five steals.
- With the win, Brandeis improved to 3-0 all-time against Rivier.
