Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/8/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (1-0) hosted their annual Gwynedd Mercy Tip-Off Tournament to kick off the start of the 2024-25 season. In the first game of the tournament, the Griffins hosted Muhlenberg College (0-1) and started the season on a high note with a 69-60 victory over the Mules. Loan senior forward captain Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) started off her senior season being a driving factor in the Red and Gold's victory with 13 points and a game-high ten rebounds. Eagan was 3-of-10 from the field (30%) and recorded a game-high three three-pointers (3-8, 38%) in the contest.
Griffin Highlights:
- Gwynedd Mercy comes into the season young and hungry with eight freshmen on the 2024-25 roster with many of these players making an impact night one. Freshman guard Emma Krawczeniuk (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) finished with a game-high 15 points on 5-of-9 (56%) from the floor including three three's and two steals.
- Sophomore guard Angelina Balcer (Philadelphia, Pa.) was a floor general for the Griffins in the first game of the season, finishing with a career-high in assists (7) and steals (5). Balcer recorded 12 points in her season debut with eight rebounds throughout the matchup.
- Gwynedd Mercy as a team shot 15-of-20 (75%) from the charity stripe, while Muhlenberg shot 11-of-27 (41%).
Gwynedd Mercy continues play in the Gwynedd Mercy Tip-Off Tournament as the team takes on DeSales University tomorrow (Saturday), November 9 for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.
