Northampton, MA: The #10/14 ranked Smith College women's basketball team opened the season with a 95-33 win over Ramapo College tonight at the Tyler Tip-Off.
Smith shot 61% (37-60) from the floor, 47% (11-23) from the three-point line and 58% (10-17) from the free throw line in the game. Three Pioneers scored in double figures in the game as they were led by Hannah Martin who finished with a team high 14 points with five steals. Ally Landau added 12 points and six assists while Jane Loo tallied 11 points, five assists and four rebounds. Maggie Fleming led the way with eight rebounds while adding eight points. The team scored 44 points in the paint along with 38 points off of Ramapo turnovers.
The Roadrunners were led by Allison Ahern who scored 11 points while adding four rebounds. Angelene Matttingly posted seven points and two assists while Lauren Flatt added five points and a team high three steals. The team shot 25% (11-44) from the field, 30% (3-10) from the three-point line and 80% (8-10) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow at the Tyler Tip-Off when they take on Arcadia University at 4:00 PM.
