12th-Ranked Blue Jays Shoot Past Washington College, 75-44

CHESTERTOWN, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team took on Washington College in their final road matchup of the regular season Wednesday night, putting together one of their most well-rounded efforts of the season en route to the 75-44 win. The win is the Blue Jays' 22nd of the year, matching the record for most regular season wins in program history.

Beth Corelli led all scorers with 13 points off the bench on 4-5 shooting including 3-4 from 3-point land, with Macie Feldman (12) and Layla Henderson (12) joining the sophomore in double figures. Feldman recorded her fifth double-double of the year, adding a game-high 11 boards to pair with three assists and two steals, with Greta Miller also contributing across the board with nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

As a team Hopkins (22-2, 18-1 Centennial) sank 13 threes to set a new season-best mark, flipping the script completely from the first meeting between the sides in which the Blue Jays were held without a 3-pointer — still the only time that has happened this season.

The Shorewomen (13-11, 10-9 Centennial) scored the first bucket of the night before a Feldman triple ignited a 17-3 run gave Hopkins a commanding 17-5 lead. The Blue Jays made a point  of converting from deep early, with four of their first six made baskets coming from behind the arc. Hopkins' offense cooled, allowing the game to get back to single digits before a 1-2 trip to the line by Feldman gave the Blue Jays an 18-9 lead after one.

The lead was cut to as little as seven just over a minute into the second quarter before Hopkins used another run to put the game out of reach. With the Blue Jays up 20-13 following a Shorewomen layup, Michaela O'Neil started a 10-0 run capped off by a Corelli lay-in to shoot in front 30-17. With 1:02 left in the half, Jadyn Murray corralled an offensive board — one of Hopkins' 17 on the day — and converted on the putback to put the Blue Jays in front 37-17 at the half.

Hopkins' offense came alive in a third quarter that saw the Blue Jays score 28 points on 63% shooting from the field and 83% shooting from deep. After Elisabeth Peebles opened Hopkins' scoring with a triple, the Blue Jays used a 12-0 run to balloon the lead to 52-24. The sides traded buckets over the next three minutes before Hopkins sank shots from 3-point land on its final three possessions — two from Kara Milliken and one from Corelli — to take a 34-point lead into the fourth quarter.

Wednesday's final frame started with a 5-0 Washington College run before a 7-0 response by the Blue Jays — five of which came via Corelli — gave Hopkins its largest lead at 72-36. Points were few and far between in the final seven minutes of action, with the Shorewomen going on an extended 7-3 run in that span to give the Blue Jays the 75-44 win.

Hopkins is back in action Saturday, Feb. 17 for its regular season finale against Swarthmore. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the Blue Jays honoring their seniors beforehand.
