Conn College Falls at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team dropped a 68-50 decision to Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon in a NESCAC battle at Silloway Gymnasium.

Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) paced the Camels with 13 points and filled out the stat sheet with five rebounds, four blocks and three assists. Avery Burns (Orleans, Mass.) shot 4-for-8 from three-point range and finished with 12 points off the bench.

In the opening quarter, Burns and Oberman-Levine kept the Camels close. The duo combined for 10 points as Conn trailed 14-13 after one.

A jumper by Addi Hunter (Saint George, Vt.) put the Camels on top in the opening minute of the second period. However, Wesleyan took control behind an 18-2 run that was fueled by seven points from Alana Jones. Conn missed 10 straight shots during the stretch and trailed 36-23 at intermission.

The Cardinals led by as many as 24 in the second half and never let the margin dip below double digits. Conn clawed back to within 13 late in the fourth behind threes from Aislinn McMahon (Andover, Mass.) and Burns and a layup by Arliana Torres (Toms River, N.J.), but the Camels would get no closer.

Wesleyan's Felicia Fongemie led all scorers with 17 points while Olivia Quinn chipped in 15. Alli Jones recorded a double-double with 12 points and 20 rebounds.

Conn College (5-11 overall, 0-4 NESCAC) will next host UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, January 20 at noon.
