Women's Basketball falls to Mississippi in SLIAC Matchup

COLUMBUS, MS- Mississippi University for Women takes down the Blackburn Beavers in SLIAC Game 93-59.

The Beavers were led by junior Ashanti Jones with 11 points, following Jones, Senior Elizabeth Morris with eight points. Freshman Becca Benoit leading the Beavers in rebouds, grabbing six rebounds out of BC 37 total rebounds. 

The Beavers started out strong winning the first quarter 19-18, Freshman Gracie Jent putting up the first two points, followed by two good free throws from Caidy Tuetken putting the Beavers up 4-2. A good Brooklyn Driggers layup at the end of the first quarter put the Beavers up by one going into the second. Kenadee Frey started the Beavers off in the second with two three pointers putting them up 29-26. BC go into the locker room at half down 36-30. Despite the Beavers best efforts in the first half they still fell to the Owls 93-59.

The Beavers move to 3-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference. Their next opponent will be this Saturday, January 6 at 1:00 PM against Lyon College in Batesville Arkansas.
