PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team beat the University of Rochester Yellowjackets on Saturday, 72-62 in their second and final game at the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout at Nazareth University.
The Cardinals trailed after the first quarter, 20-17, but pulled ahead in the second to end the first half up 36-35. They never looked back, outscoring the Yellowjackets 36-27 the rest of the way.
Junior guard Sidney Tomasso led the team in points with 21 and also added six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Senior guard Claire Kruszka contributed 20 points and four assists, while sophomore Presleigh Brunner had 13 points. Defensively, freshman forward Joleen Lusk had 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Lusk was named to the All-Tournament team, while Tomasso earned Most Valuable Player honors.
The Cardinals, who have now won two straight, hold their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 21, against Penn State Behrend. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 P.M.
