Keuka College Falls to SUNY Brockport in Women’s Basketball

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost to SUNY Brockport 91-53 in the opening game of the 58 Main BBQ & Brew Tipoff Classic at Brockport.

Keuka College (1-3, 0-0 Empire 8) was led by first-year student-athlete Sophia Babcock (Oswego, N.Y. / Oswego) with 13 points. Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) and Sydney Brown (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy) each added 10 points and Cotter led the Wolves with six rebounds.

SUNY Brockport 91 vs. Keuka College 53

The Golden Eagles blitzed the Wolves early, opening the game on a 14-0 run. A three by Mary Cotteer got Keuka on the board, but SUNY Brockport remained in control. They led by as many as 20 in the quarter and finished the first with a 30-14 lead over Keuka.

The Wolves attempted to cut into the lead, but the Golden Eagles were able to widen the margin. SUNY Brockport outscored Keuka 23-10 in the second to lead 53-24 at the half.

Keuka College maintained pace with Brockport in the second half. The Golden Eagles only outscored the Wolves by four in the third and five in the fourth. Brockport would defeat Keuka 91-53 on Friday night.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will close out the 58 Main BBQ & Brew Tipoff Classic on Saturday as Keuka College will face Fredonia State at 1 p.m. at SUNY Brockport. It will be the 13th overall meeting between the Wolves and the Blue Devils, but first since the 1991-92 season.
