William Paterson Women's Basketball Earns 64-59 Season-Opening Road Win at Drew

MADISON, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (1-0) opened its 2023-24 campaign with a 64-59 road win at Drew (1-1) Nov. 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pioneers went into the fourth quarter trailing by two (45-43) when a 3-pointer by junior Mackenzie O'Brien with 9:42 on the clock put WP ahead by one (46-45) and sparked a 10-2 run.
  • WP maintained its slim advantage for the majority of the final frame until an 8-2 Drew run evened the score at 57-57 with 2:47 remaining in the game. However, back-to-back baskets by sophomore Patricia Walsh gave the Pioneers the edge and WP iced the game at the foul line the rest of the way en route to earning the 64-59 season-opening road win.
