UNION, NJ -- Rowan held off Kean, 78-76, on Saturday to move into a tie for first place in the NJAC and pick up the team's seventh win in a row.

The Profs also had another team milestone as Grace Marshall scored her 1,000th career point in the process, becoming the second player on the team this season to hit the mark. On Wednesday, Nicole Mallard did the same en route to a win over Rutgers-Camden. Marshall's moment happened with 7:56 in the fourth quarter on a driving bucket in the paint to make her the 19th player in program history to accomplish the feat.

Marshall ended the contest with 16 points but it was rookie Ny'emah Middleton who poured in a season-high 19 points off the bench. Dakota Adams (10 points) and Kate Herlihy (10 points) also hit for double digits. Danielle McCurdy added eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, both team highs.

Shannon McCoy led the Cougars with 28 points with teammate Macy Seaman contributing 22 as Rowan snapped Kean's seven-game win streak that ironically began after the Profs' win here over Kean in Glassboro back on January 7th.

McCoy had 14 points in the first quarter as Kean built a lead as high as nine (17-8), but Rowan was able to close the gap to 23-20 heading into the second.

Middleton paced the offense in that second stanza, scoring 10 points to help keep the deficit to just 43-40 at the break.

Marshall, Middleton and Savanna Holt combined for four three pointers in the third quarter as the Profs made their move to take the lead. Marshall totaled 12 of the team's 26 points in the period to help give Rowan a 66-58 lead going into the final quarter.

Kean made a run to start the fourth, outscoring the Profs 10-2 as a three from Sarah Olivero would not things up at 68-68. After the lead swung back-and-forth, Rowan took the lead for good on a bucket from Herlihy with 1:16 to play for a 75-73 edge. Adams added two free throws on the next possession to increase the lead to four before the Cougars connected on a triple with 23 ticks to get to a one-point game. Herlihy hit one of two from the line on the next trip down and a last-second three-pointer attempt was off the mark to give Rowan the series sweep over Kean.

Next up for Rowan is a road contest at New Jersey City on Wednesday, one of the teams the Profs are tied with for first place in the NJAC, along with Kean, in a big conference clash beginning at 6 p.m.
