That momentum carried over to the second half, as Hiram kept the margin within 5-or-fewer points for the entirety of the third quarter. Again, the team finished strong thanks to a pair of layups from Mory and Thompson to move the deficit to 2 points (46-44) entering the fourth quarter.
Denison regained control early in the fourth quarter thanks to an 8-4 run to take a 54-48 lead with 5:09 remaining. The 6-point advantage was its largest of the second half.
Hiram wouldn't back down, closing the game with strong play on both ends of the floor to claim its second conference victory. Five different players scored over the final five minutes, all of whom also found ways to shut down the Big Red offense in the critical moments of the game.
The Terriers will next celebrate Senior Day when they play DePauw on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
