KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost 52-37 to Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 game at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Lauren Hill (Cobleskill, N.Y. / Cobleskill-Richmondville) led Keuka College (3-15, 0-11 Empire 8) with 13 points. Killian Mahoney (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) was also in double figures with 10 points for the Wolves.
Hartwick College 52 at Keuka College 37
Killian Mahoney got the Green and Gold on the board with a three to answer an opening four points by Hartwick. Hartwick answered with a basket, but Lauren Hill scored on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 7-7 three minutes in. Later in the quarter, Hill gave the Wolves an 11-9 lead with a layup, but the Hawks answered with a three 15 seconds later to regain the lead. Hartwick led 12-11 after the first.
The visitors scored the first four points again of the quarter. Defense dominated the first four minutes of the second. A jumper by Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) got Keuka College on the board, making it 16-13. The Wolves cut the margin to one at 18-17 with three minutes left in the frame, but Hartwick scored closed out the frame with a three in the final seconds to take a 23-19 lead into halftime.
Hartwick's defense stepped up in the third quarter. The Hawks outscored the Wolves 14-4 in the frame with Keuka's only points coming from Lauren Hill at the free throw line. The visitors carried a 37-23 lead into the final quarter.
The Hawks opened the fourth with a three, but Killian Mahoney answered right back with one of her own. The Wolves continued to battle. A three by Mary Cotter cut the margin to single digits, 44-35 with three minutes left. However, nine points would be as close as Keuka would get it. Hartwick scored the final six points of the game as the defeated the Wolves 52-37 on Saturday.

- Both Hill and Mahoney had seven rebounds in the game, but Ellen Lavonas (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) led Keuka with eight boards
- Mary Cotter had seven points for the Wolves and surpassed 100 points on her freshman season
- Killian Mahoney set a new personal best for threes in a season, surpassing her performance from her junior season
- Meg McGwin (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) had four points and six rebounds for the Wolves. The senior surpassed 300 rebounds for her career
